Arcadia

by Tom Stoppard

Arcadia is set in an English country house in both the early 1800’s and the present. It simultaneously shows the audience a modern historian attempting to unravel the house’s past, as well as the lives of the house’s significant former inhabitants. The action takes place in one room of the grand house. The walls are green to invoke the idea of the house’s much-discussed but unseen gardens. The furniture and decorations are few, but intricate, in a way that looks period accurate in the 1800’s scenes and appropriately antique in the present scenes. This design was done in Set 2 in 2022.
